Get It NowMy Keto Salmon Recipe Is Sweet, Savory, and Ready Fast

After I started eating keto, I noticed how easy it was to fall into a rut with the same basic meals on repeat. That’s why I created this keto salmon recipe. It felt like something fresh and different, but still easy enough to pull off on a weeknight. Readers were also asking me for more ways to use my sugar-free honey substitute, and it turns out it makes the best glaze for salmon. It’s sweet, a little garlicky, and works beautifully with the broiler to give the fish a caramelized finish without any added sugar. Here’s why I love it (and I think you will too):
- Sweet and savory flavor – The glaze has that perfect balance of honey garlic flavor, without any actual honey. It reminds me of my maple glazed pork chops, but made for fish.
- Fast and simple – This recipe comes together in under 30 minutes and only needs 6 ingredients plus salt and pepper. Minimal effort, max flavor.
- Naturally light and dairy-free – Most keto salmon recipes use heavy cream or cheese, but this one is totally dairy-free and still full of flavor. If you want a creamy version, check out my Tuscan salmon or parmesan crusted salmon instead.
Make it with me and bring something fresh, flavorful, and totally keto to the table tonight.

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my keto salmon recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Salmon – I usually go for wild-caught king, coho, sockeye, or pink salmon filets. Any of those bake up beautifully. You can learn more about picking the right one [here], but honestly, whatever kind you have will work.
- Wholesome Yum Keto Honey – What makes this keto salmon different is that it uses my honey substitute which bakes, drizzles, and caramelizes just like regular honey, but with 0g net carbs. I also use it for honey mustard, stir fry, teriyaki sauce, or just drizzled over keto yogurt or muffins.
- Coconut Aminos – I like using this as a gluten-free alternative to soy sauce. If soy sauce works for you, you can totally use that instead. I recommend low-sodium so the glaze doesn’t get too salty.
- Spices – You’ll need garlic powder paprika (smoked or regular both work), ground ginger if you like a little warm spice, sea salt, and black pepper. I sometimes toss in red pepper flakes if I want a hint of heat.
- Olive Oil – I usually use olive oil, but avocado oil or any neutral oil you like will work just fine for this keto salmon recipe.

How To Make Keto Salmon
I have step-by-step photos here to help you visualize the recipe. For full instructions with amounts and temperatures, see the recipe card.
- Season the salmon. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels, then sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
- Make the glaze. In a large bowl, whisk together the keto honey, coconut aminos, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, and a little ground ginger if you’re using it.

- Marinate the salmon. Add the salmon to the bowl and coat it well in the glaze. Marinate in the fridge, turning to coat before cooking.
- Arrange. Place the salmon in a baking dish or on a parchment-lined sheet pan, leaving a little space between each fillet. I like to pour any leftover glaze over the top.
- Broil. Broil the keto salmon recipe about 6 inches from the heat until it flakes easily. I like topping it with sliced green onions or other fresh herbs like parsley before serving.

My Recipe Tips
- I always give the salmon a quick pat with paper towels before seasoning or marinating. It helps the glaze soak in better and keeps the fish juicy while it cooks.
- While it’s marinating, I leave it out so it comes to room temp. That way, it cooks more evenly. I wouldn’t marinate it for more than an hour though.
- Cook skin-side down. If your salmon has skin, keep it on. It adds flavor and helps protect the fish while baking. You don’t have to eat the skin if you don’t like it—I usually don’t.
- I use a meat thermometer to check that it hits 135 to 140 degrees F. No thermometer? Just make sure it flakes easily with a fork and still looks moist in the center.

-
Preheat the oven to the Broil setting (typically 500 degrees F or 260 degrees C ).

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the keto honey, coconut aminos, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and ground ginger.
-
Add the salmon to the bowl and turn the pieces to coat in glaze. Marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to 1 hour. When time is up, turn the salmon pieces in the marinade again to coat well.
-
Place the salmon in a large baking dish, with spaces between the fillets. Brush any glaze left in the bowl over the top of the fish.
-
Broil keto salmon in the oven, about 6 inches from the heating element, for 10-12 minutes, until it flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 135-140 degrees F (57-60 degrees C).

Serving Ideas
Here are some of my favorite low carb sides to make this keto salmon recipe a complete meal:
- Salad – I like keeping it low carb with something fresh on the side, like my Asian cabbage salad, creamy smashed cucumber salad, or a little heat from spicy kani salad.
- Keto rice & noodles – This salmon is awesome with cauliflower rice, miracle noodles, or even my 3-ingredient egg noodles. Zucchini noodles work great too if you want something light.
- Veggies – I usually roast some bok choy or asparagus with it, but if I’m short on time, Instant Pot broccoli or a quick veggie stir fry always does the trick. You can really pair it with any of your favorite keto veggies.

0I made this dish a few day ago. I used the recipe as is the only change I made was to use my air fryer & I used Maya’s time & temp in her air fryer salmon recipe. It turned out wonderful. I will definitely be making this again!

0Fabulous recipe! Loved it! Substituted monk fruit crystals instead of honey item (couldn’t find any) and it was easier to keep the paste on the salmon. It tasted as good as any glazed salmon I’ve had. Thx MK/WY.

0I would like to make this dish but was wondering how I would do it without broiling. I would prefer to bake, roast, saute, or air fry instead. How would I adjust the recipe instructions? I just bought your honey for the first time, and I want to do the recipe correctly.
Thanks.

0I’m not keto so I made this with regular honey and it was still so so good. Love the sticky glaze! We eat salmon at least once a week and it’s always nice to change it up.
