I’m still on my Indian food kick! Obviously my Coconut Curry Chicken recipe needed a side dish, and keto naan bread – or low carb naan as it’s also called – is it! This keto naan with almond flour makes a delicious flatbread that pairs perfectly with Indian food, but also would be a great side to soup or salad. I can’t wait to hear what you all think about this keto naan recipe! It just might become your new favorite low carb bread…
Naan sounds like a complicated recipe but this gluten free naan recipe is pretty fool-proof. If you’ve made fathead dough before (you have, right?) you’ll know how easy it is.
And if you haven’t? Well, make this keto naan bread first, and then go make my fathead pizza crust recipe for your next keto pizza night!
How To Make Keto Naan Bread
This keto naan with almond flour recipe is made with a twist on my fathead pizza dough recipe. I love using fathead dough for low carb bread replacements because it has a chewy texture, which makes it taste so similar to the higher carb versions.
First we knead together the fathead dough recipe. Once it comes together, form it into a ball and then we’ll separate into six sections – use a knife to cut like a pie.
Then we roll them into balls and form them into the naan shapes and bake.
PRO TIP: Keto naan bread is supposed to have a rustic shape, so it doesn’t need to be perfectly round, or perfectly shaped. I thought it was easier to just shape with my hands than use a rolling pin, but if you do want to roll it out, make sure to use parchment paper on both sides of the naan so that it doesn’t stick to the rolling pin.
Once it’s done baking and has beautiful golden spots all over, it’s time for the best part! This keto flatbread is topped with an addicting combination of garlic, butter, and parsley. Don’t even think about skipping this part!
What Is Keto Naan?
Keto naan bread is a low carb flatbread. Traditional naan is an oven-baked flatbread that is found in various Indian and Asian cuisines, but it’s made with flour and definitely isn’t low carb or keto.
I came up with this almond flour flatbread version that’s packed with protein and fiber. Naan often has yogurt in it, so I used keto friendly full-fat Greek yogurt in this one.
How Many Carbs In Keto Naan?
One piece of keto naan has just 6 grams net carbs. Awesome, right? Traditional naan bread has more than 40 grams net carbs.
All the flavor, none of the carbs – that’s what I do here on Wholesome Yum and I’m so glad we can add keto naan with almond flour to our low carb bread list.
Can You Freeze Low Carb Naan?
Yes, you can freeze low carb naan. There are two handy ways to do this.
- Make the dough, form a ball, wrap tightly in plastic, and freeze it. When you want to use it, let it thaw completely and then shape into naan pieces. Bake as usual.
- Pre-bake the keto naan bread. I prefer this option for convenience – no thawing needed! Bake the naan as directed, wrap it, and store in the freezer. When you are ready to enjoy it, simply add the garlic butter and bake for a few more minutes.
What To Serve With Keto Naan With Almond Flour:
Curry and stews are a natural choice for gluten free naan bread (see above!), but it would also make a perfect side for salads and soups. It’s substantial for bread, so you could always just add a little cheese or pesto and call it a meal. And scooping up crack chicken with naan? Droooooool.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (191 degrees C). Line an extra large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the shredded mozzarella and Greek yogurt in a large bowl. Microwave for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and stirrable to be smooth. Stir again at the end until well incorporated. (You can also use a double boiler on the stove if you'd like.)
Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, stir together the almond flour, baking powder, and eggs.
Working quickly while the cheese is still hot, add the flour mixture to the cheese mixture. Knead with your hands, squeezing through your fingers, until a uniform dough forms.
Form the dough into a ball. If it's sticky, chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, just until slightly cool to the touch but not stiff or frigid cold. (This is optional, only if it's too sticky to work with.)
Cut the dough ball into 6 sections, like a pie. Take one piece, roll into a ball, then shape with your hands into a flatbread shape, about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick.
Bake the naan in the oven for about 8 to 11 minutes, until a few golden brown spots form, but slightly before it looks fully done. If any bubbles form, pop them with a fork to flatten.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the butter, garlic powder and fresh parsley. Brush over the naan.
Return the naan to the oven for about 2 more minutes, until more golden brown.

This Naan bread is soooo delicious! The recipe was easy to follow and is my new favorite! I originally made it to eat with butter chicken, but then I made it again (and baked it longer) to make a crispy fry bread pulled pork taco! It is a new favorite recipe of mine! Thanks!
Rachel
Thanks for the inspo. I managed to make a lovely batch of GF low carb naans after tweaking it slightly. I used 1 cup coconut flour and half a cup GF self raising flour. No cheese. I also used low fat free from Greek yoghurt (4 tbsp), only 1 egg and a splash of milk to help it combine into a ball, as well as the said amount of baking powder. It’s difficult to roll out as very delicate so some might find it easier to gently squish between your palms. Brushed on the melted butter and herbs too. My recipe made 4 decent sized naans.
Mawande
Easy and straightforward, my first attempt was .
Thank you.
Denise
I am looking forward to making the naan bread and will let you know the outcome, thank you for the recipe Denise
Ruby
I loved this recipe. I followed the exact directions and these naans came out delicious!!
Sarah Munsil
This was very tasty. I’m using leftovers for sandwich tomorrow. I’d like to know if there’s a way to make it less almondy?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Sarah, You can add extra spices to try to cover the almond flavor. Feel free to adjust the amount of garlic powder or add onion powder to vary the flavor.
Glynis
This was easy and tasted great
Elizabeth Hess
Love your naan bread! Do you reheat in the microwave for 20 seconds or so per piece? Thank you!
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Elizabeth, Yes, that would work great!
Reema
Hi! Could I use regular, homemade yogurt in place of greek yogurt?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Reema, Yes that should work fine. Just be prepared to add an extra tablespoon or two of almond flour to the dough if it’s too wet.
Farzana Friars
I skipped the cheese portion of the this recipe – i just want plain naan. My dough is very liquidy. How do I fix it? I know ‘adding flour’ is the common sense answer, but I thought perhaps there are other tricks. I used Goat’s 3.5% fat yogurt – it is slightly more runny.
Looking forward to trying this again based on your response. Thank you for sharing!
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Farzana, The cheese is actually a key part of the recipe. It provides structure and binds the recipe together.
Sandra
This recipe is amazing; texture & flavor, easy to follow instructions. Thank you for sharing
Paul G
This stuff is awesome and so easy to make!!!
Elizabeth Hess
Yay, it turned out perfect. We loved it! Thank you for this wonderful recipe. We had it with your Butter Chicken recipe and cauliflower rice. Yummy!
Bobby
It has an incredibly delicious flavor. While it tastes far better than traditional naan the texture is very different.
Julie Sexton
This recipe is awesome. It does take a little extra kneading but worth it. I can see so many uses for this dough. Thanks for making my keto lifestyle so enjoyable.
Tanya
I am definitely having troubles. I’ve tried the recipe twice now. The end product is only ok. I believe the problem is in not being able to incorporate the almond flour mixture with the cheese mixture properly. My cheese isnt melting as much as softening. I’m stiring every 30 secs, but the final product is more like kids store bought slime. It is not liquid, pourable, or mixable. I did my best to force these two mixtures it become one. But the texture of my mixture looks nothing like yours which might be why my final product is only barely okay.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Tanya, Are you using pre-shredded cheese? It sounds like the brand you are buying is not working for this recipe. I would try either purchasing a different brand of pre-shredded cheese or grating a block of mozzarella and melting that. You should have better results. The cheese is not a liquid once fully melted, slime is actually a pretty accurate description of the consistency you should get with the melted cheese, but you do need it to incorporate with the flour afterward. Try a food processor if by hand isn’t working well. I hope this helps!
Shruti
Hi,
Can I use any other cheese instead of Mozzarella?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Shruti, Mozzarella provides the best elasticity, but other readers have commented using other shredded cheeses with success.
Thomas anderson
This recipe is great super filling and easy to make however I did struggle with the oven cooking so I used a fry pan on the stove top instead and it worked better then the piece I cooked in the oven would definitely use the recipe again.
Tiia
Amazing! Didn’t have just mozzarella so I used a combination of tasty, mozzarella and parmesan. The garlic butter makes it. Thank you for this recipe.
Aysha Kamalie
Loved this recipe. We had it with butter chicken. Perfect.
Kirsten Adolphus
Easy to follow and absolutely tasty…..
Cindy
This recipe looks delicious. But I have a silly question, may I cook the dough/naan on the stovetop in a cast iron skillet vs. bake?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Cindy, I have not personally tried that cooking method, but it should work. You may need to make your naan a little thinner, or plan to start them on the stovetop, then finish baking in the oven. Please let us know if you decide to experiment!
Sheeks sharma
Hello! Instead of mozzarella cheese, can I use 4 cheese Mexican shredded cheese?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Sheeks, I have not tested this recipe with blends of cheese, so I’m not sure if it will work. Please let us know how it turns out if you decide to give it a try!
Elle
Great recipe! I used 1/2 cup almond flour and 1/4 cup coconut flour. I also used 1/2 fresh mozerella and 1/2 processed. It came out very light and fluffy without too much of a cheesy taste and had a very bread like consistency.
Miriam
Its super nice! And easy to make.
Julie Sadler
Absolutely DELICIOUS recipe!
I accidentally put the garlic, parsley flakes and some onion powder into the Almond flour/egg baking powder mix but turned out fantastic.
Can’t thank you enough for your recipe.
Jill
I only have coconut flour, you think it would still work? I’ve used almond flour in the past and I really didn’t like anything made with it, but maybe I didn’t get blanched….I don’t know. I’ll get some almond if you don’t think coconut will work… Looking forward to trying it, miss bread!
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Jill, I have not tested this recipe with coconut flour, but other readers have started having success with it. You will need to reduce the amount of coconut flour, as it’s much more absorbent than almond flour is. I would start with 1/2 a cup and adjust until you get the right consistency of dough (check the video for a visual on this). If you decide to try it, please let us know how it turns out!
Eleanor
The bestest naan I keep coming back too
It’s my husband’s fav with any curry we do!
I experiment the same recipe with nigella seeds or crushed garlic and sometimes onion powder….. And all of it wonderfully comes together becuz of this most simple recipe…
Thank u sincerely… M v grateful for this recipe.
FYI.. it’s a 10 star.
Lisa
I loved this recipe – note I don’t remember tasting naan. I found a WONDERFUL shortcut. You don’t need to melt the cheese! Just throw it all in the food processor – the dough came out, well like dough. You couldn’t see for feel lumps in the dough from the cheese. Used half the recipe to make pizza dough to freeze for another time! THANK YOU!
R
The baking powder is gluten free but still contains bad carbs- from corn starch or maize. What do you recommend?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi R, Baking powder needs a starch to keep the rising reaction from taking place immediately. There are several DIY baking powder versions online, but they will still contain some sort of starch.
R Franklin
I made these last week and they were excellent! I’ve made things with the fathead based before, but I realized with the texture of this bread, it would make a swell pizza crust — so I did exactly that a few days later and it was wonderful! Many of the recipes I’ve seen using it as a pizza dough are more in the flat bread side, but this worked really nicely and gave me a proper large pizza! Definitely a keeper!
Cattz
I used this recipe to make cinnamon rolls. Once the dough was ready I rolled it out into a sheet, brushed it with melted butter and topped it with splenda brown sugar, cinnamon and golden raisins. Rolled it up and cut it into slices. They are heavy but they are good! Thank you for this versatile recipe!
Hamsa
This was absolutely mindblowingly amazing. Didn’t quite taste like a naan, but it’s amazing as bread even to just eat on its own. Thank you for this recipe!!
Robin
We LOVE these! Thank you!
LB
Please stop with what is basically a fathead dough for everything. It’s not right for this kind of bread.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi LB, Sorry you’re not happy with this recipe. Many other readers have enjoyed it, and it does make a great low carb version of naan. There are many other recipes on the site, maybe something else will suit your tastes better.
Justine
Very easy and delicious with the coconut curry recipe
Corie
Hi! Thank you for sharing the recipe! I’m new in baking and baking with almond flour, Can I just use Plain Greek Yogurt instead of full fat yogurt? Will there be any difference on the result? Thank You very much!
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Corie, Yes, that will still work.
Corie
I appreciate your response. I’ll be making one now! super excited!
Carly L Marriott
Unbelievable!! Better than non-keto naan!
Elaine P
I’ve made the naan breads once and they were lovely but I only used 1 teaspoon of baking powder. I made them again following your recipe closely and noticed it calls for 1 tablespoon of baking powder, so I added this. Unfortunately the naans were inedible. Is there a typo in the recipe and if not where did I go wrong? I’d have given 5 stars if not for today’s disaster.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Elaine, The tablespoon of baking powder gives the nice bubbly brown exterior to the naan bread. Of course, if you prefer the flavor of only using 1 tsp in your naan recipe you are welcome to do that. Enjoy!
Joyce
I was having trouble with the dough. It was very sticky and gummed up my hands. I had to chill it for a while before attempting to roll it out.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Joyce, If the dough is too sticky you can add a small amount of flour until it becomes workable. Letting it chill in the fridge helps too!
Denise Warner
Not sure if this has been asked but……..Can it be frozen after I bake them?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Denise, Yes, these will freeze well. For best results, be sure to let them cool completely before freezing.
Cattz
You know me…I love Indian food and what is good tandoori chicken, dal and saag paneer without naan? I’m sorry but that’s just not right. I never realized how important flat bread was until I started eating keto. I finally found a recipe that looks good, tastes good and has the right texture yet very low carb. Only 9 carbs per serving!! Whoop whoop whoop!! Thank you sooo much
Susan
I went to my fridge for Greek yogurt, only to find someone had eaten it! I did however have crème fraiche. So I used that. I briefly thought about plain yoghurt, but thought creme fraiche would be better. Brilliant result. Delicious!
Shahdi
Loved this recipe. I didn’t have but 1/4 cup of almond flour so I mixed 3/4 of coconut with it and baked the same way but just a few minutes longer in convection. So delicious!
J
I can’t wait to try this. The calorie count is it per piece or for the entire dough recipe? Thank you
Wholesome Yum M
Hi J, Calorie count is per serving, not for the full recipe. Enjoy!
PatMimiC
Can I use coconut flour instead of almond flour just for a change?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi PatMimiC, I haven’t tested this and am not sure these would turn out quite as well with just coconut flour. You would have to cut the amount of flour down by a lot so they wouldn’t be too dry. If you decide to try it, I would only use 1/2 cup of coconut flour. It will make less dough overall, so you’ll have a few less naan out of this recipe. Please let us know if you decide to try it!
Pat
So easy, so good, can freeze, filling!! Goes with everything
Carol Walker
I made your cauliflower pizza crust and it was great. I put only cheese and pepperoni on it. My question is how many carbs are in it.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Carol, Nutrition facts for the crust are listed in the recipe card. Check out an online recipe calculator to figure out the macros for the full pizza recipe with your chosen toppings.
Adrienne
I’m looking forward to trying this recipe again. Through no fault of the recipe, I had a total fail. I purchased mozzarella that had way too much moisture so when combined with the almond flour it never made it out of the batter consistency. So, my recommendation is to make sure you’re not getting the high-moisture soft mozzarella! I’m not strictly low carb and I hated to waste all the ingredients, so I ended up adding a good bit of flour to make it a dough consistency and baked it. So while my efforts to make a low-carb naan failed, combined with a saucy Indian butter chicken, it was decent.
So, to summarize, buy the firm mozzarella!
Shyam
The Naan eventually came out well but it took 4 cups of almond flour with rest all ingredients being as mentioned.
I did grill it for 2 mins finally to get a brownish texture..However some bits of the naan were soft though…
Luz
Thank you for this delicious recipe . Love it
And so easy to make .
Kathy Keller
Can you point me in the direction of the low carb naan video? I am not able to find it, although I have tried. My vision is poor, so maybe that is why. Thank you for your help.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Kathy, The video is in the recipe card. It’s located just above the actual recipe.
Marie
Is it necessary to use the mozzarella cheese?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Marie, Yes, the mozzarella is a major structural part of this recipe.
Rito
Made this last night and I am completely sold. It was super easy and surprisingly delicious… I entered the recipe into a nutritional calculator if you go with 6 serving then it’s only ~5 net carbs per serving and around 12g of protein. Like I said… SOLD. Thank you!
Michelle
Just made this. Best naan copy I’ve had. I made a slight change, used sour cream in place of the Greek yoghurt (1:1), only because I didn’t have it to hand. It worked out perfect. Thanks for another great recipe!
MistyB
I LOVED these. My parter doesn’t eat carb free and even he has to pinch one. I made them and froze the leftovers and they were great from the freezer too. Really tasty. Not like a naan bread exactly of course, but a great alternative. Thank you 🙂
Lou
Did not taste like naan; texture wasn’t even close. Only ate half of one; I’ll try to use it for personal pizza cuz it’s similar to fathead dough) as I don’t want to waste it. Not sure what went wrong. I even pan fried and oven baked; neither one satisfied. But thank you for posting. It was worth a shot.
Natasha
What a fabulous recipe! I made these to accompany a keto butter chicken and it was delicious!
Pauline
I am finding that almond flour is a bit strong for my palate…..any modifications you might be able to suggest?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Pauline, What kind of almond flour did you use? Blanched fine ground almond flour generally has a neutral flavor.
Q
Hi, how many calories per naan?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Q, There are 370 calories per naan.
Sonia
The recipe looks wonderful, and I can’t wait to try it, but could you please rename the recipe. By referring to this food as “naan bread,” you are essentially calling this “bread bread.” It is simply known as naan.
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Sonia, I called it that as it makes it easier for people to search for, but feel free to call it whatever you like.
Adrian
Do you have a nut free version of this recipe? My son has nut allergies and gluten sensitivity. He loves pita and naan with homemade hummus. I would love to try something like this for him.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Adrian, I’m sorry, I do not have a nut free version of this naan.
Sue
Love the recipe!
Carly
Hi – can this be made with a non-cow cheese, maybe sheeps milk feta or goat cheese?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Carly, I am not sure how that would turn out. If you decide to try it, look for a cheese that has similar melting characteristics as mozzarella. That should get you a close result. Please share if you find something that works!
DD
Trader Joe’s sells Almond Mozzarella Style Shreds…. melts and tastes like shredded mozzarella cheese!
Dareth Benhalima
Can you tell me why you use Mozzarella cheese?
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Dareth, The mozzarella provides structure and bread-like texture for these naan flatbreads.
Tracey Jones
Oh my goodness, this is heaven. I cook for a living, I have a festival business, I am just starting Keto today. I wanted to try the dough to give me the confidence I would cope with this life-changing move to keto. this will definitely solve the problem of not having chapatti, crackers, pizza etc. I split the dough into 3 and made some crackers, a mini 6inch pizza and will try a naan tomorrow. I used some chive cheese as well in the qty of cheese allowed. very tasty. I used coconut flour and 2 eggs. I am so impressed. its really amazingly helpful to have such tried and tested recipes to fall back on so thanks for all your hard work, the website is totally awesome. looking forward to my order of almond flour to try the naan! Great work. thanks again.
Carolyn
OMG. OMG. I have died and gone to heaven. This naan bread was out of this world. My dough didnt look anything like yours Maya. Mine was sticky and gooey, no I didnt put it in the fridge as instructed. These bread bombs will become a daily inclusion if I can get away with it. I have been trying for SOOO long to find a recipe that replicates my local Indian. Not an exact version but a yummier different, keto version.. Thank you xxx
Hateem Hassan
How much flour is needed for one naan
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Hateem, One naan requires 1/4 cup of almond flour. The recipe is scalable on the website. Please change the servings from 6 to 1 to see the whole recipe scaled down to one serving.
Brenda Eddy
Looking forward to trying it. Thanks so much
Judi
Fat head dough usually uses cream cheese and not yogurt. Will this work with cream cheese in place of the yogurt?
I don’t love that the carb count is 6. Anyway to get that down?
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Judi, Yes, it will work with cream cheese. I used yogurt because that is what is used in regular naan. It’s a small amount and full-fat, so still relatively low in carbs, but you’re right that it would be lower using cream cheese.
Christine
This is wonderful! I haven’t found a keto type bread that I really like, but I’m in love with Naan! I used rosemary instead of parsley, and OMG I will have this as my go-to bread! Thank you !
G
Added nigella seeds and dry fried on low heat instead of baking. Almost as good as the real thing
Barbara
I cannot get it to open to the actual recipe. I saw the ingredients in the post but it does not give the amounts oven temp to any other directions.
Wholesome Yum A
Hi Barbara, there are ingredients and instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post. If you can’t see that, you may be in reader mode on your browser. Here’s how to disable that.
Ben Elmore
Bread was excellent. Used food processor. First time making. I did put dough in fridge for a couple of hours. Rose and fluffed up. I’ll just cook it a little longer next time to get a little more browning. No nutty flavor that I was afraid of. Left over bread ready for the toaster with an egg in the morning.
Shauna
Made this with your Coconut Chicken Curry recipe. Both were very good! We love Indian food, but not all the carbs not to mention the cost. Thanks so much!
Amanda
Have you tried adding yeast to this recipe to see what it would do?
Wholesome Yum A
Hi Amanda, I haven’t done that here but I have used yeast with my pretzel recipe!
Bharat
Can I use almond meal as well? Can I use ground walnuts or flax or chia? I want to substitute almonds with something that is Omega-3 rich.
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Bharat, I would not use almond meal, it will be too grainy for this recipe. Flax and chia will be too drying to use in place of the flour. I would stick with blanched, finely milled almond flour.
Connie Austin
Hi there, my partner needs to lose 40 lbs. His legs are swollen and so big that feet are getting discolored a bit. Some of the bread doesn’t taste nice. He loves his bread and pasta.
Sandy
I just finished baking this naan bread it smells so good. Came out looking amazing. I did substitute the yogurt for sour cream & May have put a little more sour cream in the mix. Also, I used pre-shredded cheese. But I definitely think pulling it out of the microwave every 30 seconds & stirring it is a key tip. It only took 1 & 1/2 mins for mine to be fully melted. Also, it is very sticky, so another key tip is what you suggested & buttering your hands to work with it. I could not imagine trying to roll this dough out. Watching the video really helps. I just tasted it & it is delish. Thank you so much for this recipe
C
My husband & I absolutely love this recipe. I love Indian food and it goes perfect with my Now & Later Chicken.
Terri
Can I substitute 2 TB of full fat sour cream instead of full fat greek yogurt? That’s what I usually have and the carbs are quite a bit lower!
Wholesome Yum M
Hi Terri, Yes that should work fine.
Ruth
I wanted so much to like this bread unfortunately it’s just like every other keto bread…terrible. Weird that there are so many positive comments.
Wholesome Yum A
Hi Ruth, I’m sorry to hear that. Let me see if I can help troubleshoot. Did you make any substitutions? Did you check the recipe video for guidance?
Josefine
This is weird, like really. The Naan tastes fantastic and there is no real difference as to the “normal” naan. Mine came out great, hard to work with the cheese since I don’t own a microwave (don’t like it), but worth it! Good luck, maybe the second time works better?
Judy Teply
A suggesion…I buttered my hands slightly after mixing the dough and before trying to make the little naan breads. It worked rather smoothly.
No sticking, and it gave it a nice brown hint when baking before adding the butter/garlic/parsley.
Peggy
This is the best version of keto bread I’ve found. We toast it for avocado toast, crisp it up for salsa, make sandwiches with it. I even make it too wet with too much yogurt and it was still delicious.
Fay Campbell
Your recipe sounds so yummy. Is there any substitute for the can of tomatoes?
Wholesome Yum L
Hi Fay, I’m not sure which recipe you are referring to. This one doesn’t call for a can of tomatoes.
Emma Sansom
This is the first keto recipe i’ve followed that i’ve LOVED! I am fairly new to it but haven’t had much success so far. It worked out perfectly and so yummy. i cheated slightly by buying Meadow Churn garlic butter which has parsley in too which worked out great. Can’t wait to eat more later!
Natasha Flores
The dough was way too sticky even after leaving it in the fridge! I put it to bake and it just got stuck to the paper. It was all wasted.
Cas
I made this to go with THM Buttah Chicken and it was such a hit, I’m serving it at my second dinner party. Maybe with practice a person can make it in 10 minutes, but my slow turtle speed took me much longer but I doubled it (used one bag of 16 oz shredded cheese for two batches) and I took my time to enjoy the process. The second time I made it was even more fun as I didn’t fuss near as much. I have 3 suggestions: one is to put together the parsley (and I used a lot more because I love parsley on naan) mixture before microwaving the cheese. Those 30 seconds come fast and I couldn’t get the parsley mix finished before I needed to put it in the warm cheese. My other is to melt some plain butter so that it is easy to spread to get the whole top of the naan bread covered and then add the parsley spread. I couldn’t get as good coverage with the parsley getting in the way. Third is if doubling, use 3 large eggs and make the 4th smaller so that it isn’t too sticky. The first one I doubled I used 4 large eggs and had to add quite a bit of Almond flour. Changing that one thing made the process much faster and didn’t change the outcome. I will be making this a lot. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Vinita
Very easy to make! Love the texture. Very close to eating actual naan.
Melanie Kramar
Great recipe – but I’d substitute parsley with cilantro, the garlic powder with fresh minced ard and melt in the micro (in keeping with traditional Naan). I absolutely love ALL your recipes!
Mark
I totally agree can’t wait to make this bread again!
Sara McCandless
Can I substitute some of the mozzarella for parmesan? If so, how much?
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Sara, No, I don’t think so. Mozzarella melts much better than Parmesan and the dough likely won’t form correctly with a harder cheese like Parmesan.
Melonie Sebro
This was delicious. I’ve never had naan before… and now I don’t need to.
Deb
I had trouble incorporating the melted cheese with the flour mixture. I had substituted mayo for yogurt. Did I not melt the cheese enough?
Wholesome Yum
Hi Deb, I haven’t tried this with mayo but your cheese may have cooled too much during that step anyway. You can always reheat it by microwaving a few additional seconds, but not much longer since it might cook the eggs.
Michelle
Had a complete blonde moment and forgot to add the egg however it turned out super delicious anyway! Thanks so much. This recipe is A1
Irene
Hi,
can you use low-fat yogurt instead?
thanks!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Irene, Yes, it would work, but full-fat is recommended for low carb and keto.
Lynn Walper
I love this bread. Ive been adding basil, and chives with the garlic butter
Bonnye
Very good. Best bread recipe I have tried on keto diet.
Lynn
It would be helpful if you could add sodium content to the nutrition facts you provide. Have you used low sodium cheeses, such as Swiss cheese (naturally very low in sodium) in any of your bread recipes? Cheeses are generally so high in sodium that they make using them as the basis for a recipe untenable for those of us who have to limit sodium intake.
Wholesome Yum
Hi Lynn, I don’t calculate sodium at this time, but I do have many recipes featuring low-sodium cheeses like ricotta, cream cheese, and fresh mozzarella.
Jody
My son just went Keto and I made him cloud bread tonight. He thought it looked like naan or Greek pita bread. Well, no so much. But this? This may have some promise. 🙂 Thanks for the recipe. I look forward to trying it.
Barb
Yummy! I make it savory (add onion flakes, garlic powder, dill and Italian seasoning to the batter) to eat with main dishes and as sandwiches and another batch mixing in a little sweetner and cinnamon or 5 spice to use as breakfast toast, spread with nut butter or jelly cream cheese. Usually make and bake double or triple batches and then freeze a bunch, already individually wrapped so I can just pop one in my lunch bag in the morning
Carla Ferong
This is the best Keto bread I’ve tried. My husband liked it too. Best if eaten warm so toss in Micro a few seconds to warm up. This is a definite keeper for me. And don’t pass up the basting with garlic butter!
Muniza
Made these and really loved them. Thanks for the recipe
Carol
This is something I need to make again! I can’t wait to share with some of my low carb + keto friends!!!

Absolutely – Love it!!
Renee Kohley
This is such a fun dinner change up! My girls will be blown away they are getting bread for dinner! Thank you!
Kelly
These are so nice and light with a good chew. Love the healthier option!
Jean
This was fantastic!! I missed naan so much, and I love this low carb and gluten free version. It tastes so so legit!
Kristen
Maya, this flatbread is delicious. I made it and substituted 1/2 cup of coconut flour for the almond, and followed the recipe in every other way. Delicious! My husband loved it, and we will definitely make it again.
Skye
Hello! So I tried making your delicious looking naan, and had trouble with the mozzarella. It separated out into a liquid and a harder, very stringy solid that I never got to a stirrable consistency. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Skye, Sorry you had issues with it. Did you by chance use “fresh” mozzarella (the high-moisture kind that is pure white and super soft, instead of the hard ivory kind)? If so, that would be the reason.
Kristen Wood
Oh my goodness, wow, this was INCREDIBLE.
Susan
I didn’t have Greek yogurt so I used sour cream. The dough was so hard to work with, but so worth it! It’s delicious!
Erin Dee
Wow, this naan bread was so delicious! I love that it’s gluten free.
Jenna Urben
I love naan bread SO MUCH!! Had no idea it was so easy to make at home. I grabbed some almond flour and made it! I know I would use it all the time haha
Dhwani Joshi
Hi,
What kind of Mozzarella is used in your recipes? Is it packaged ones or fresh ones?
Thanks
Maya | Wholesome Yum
If it doesn’t say fresh mozzarella (as in this recipe it does not), assume it’s low-moisture hard mozzarella. You can buy a brick and shred it yourself or buy the pre-packaged kind, but don’t use the soft white balls of mozzarella.
Mandy
These sound delish, can’t wait to try. Could I sub the Greek yogurt for sour cream? Thanks!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Mandy, I haven’t tried that but would guess probably. Let me know how it goes if you try it.
Courtney
My husband keeps talking about trying a keto diet. This naan Was amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Jenn
I had no idea naan could be made keto so day = made!!! Thanks for the marvelous recipe!
Veena Azmanov
I love your recipe and thank you for sharing it. Nothing like having some homemade Naan which looks so soft and buttery too.
Taryn
I love naan and have been missing it since going low carb! Thanks!
Dannii
This is a great low carb option. So many uses for them too – we love them with curry.
Katherine Hackworthy
This is a great alternative to naan’s made with wheat flour, and perfect for a Keto diet. I imagine they taste delicious with the flavours of curry.
Stephanie
Hello! Can’t wait to try this recipe. Do you happen to have a recipe with coconut flour instead of almond flour?
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Stephanie, I haven’t tested it, but you can make something similar using the coconut flour amount listed in my fathead pizza recipe.
George M
What brand of greek yogurt do you use? Thanks.
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi George, I don’t have a specific brand I use all the time. Any full-fat Greek yogurt works!
Amelia
Hi Maya. Can’t wait to try this naan with your coconut curry this week! I don’t have any sour cream, would cream cheese or double cream work as a substitute?
Thanks, Amelia
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Thank you, Amelia! You don’t need any sour cream for these, are you thinking of a different recipe?
Jill
Umm has your auto-correct replaced ‘flatbread’with ‘fathead’ or am I missing something!! 😀
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Jill, Nope, that’s not autocorrect. This dough is similar to fathead pizza dough.
Lizzy
Just made it for my Keto husband! His eyes nearly rolled behind his head! He loved it! Dough was sticky as stated so I put the balls of dough on wax then put another piece of wax over them and flattened to my liking. FYI: Baked without the top piece of wax – was just for forming. We’re adding a little more garlic next time. Thank you so much! This recipe is awesome!
Halfpint
Can it be made without any yogurt? Or is there a substitute? Thank you.
Wholesome Yum
The next best substitute would be sour cream, but I haven’t tried it myself.
