GET IT NOWThe Easy Fruit Salad Recipe I Bring To Summer Potlucks

This fruit salad is my go-to whenever I have a bunch of fresh, in-season fruit to use up. My kids love it, and it’s one of those recipes I can throw together for anything, from a quick breakfast side (with a frittata) to family potlucks. Here’s why I keep coming back to this fruit salad recipe:
- The perfect summer salad – This is one of my favorite ways to enjoy fruit on a hot summer day! When I’m not making things like fruit leather or sugar free popsicles, I’m tossing everything into this fresh, juicy salad.
- The best honey lemon dressing – The simple 2-ingredient dressing makes this salad! It adds just the right balance of sweet and tart to the fruit, with no refined sugar.
- Quick and easy – This easy fruit salad only takes me about 15 minutes to throw together.
- Customizable with your favorite fruit – I used my favorite mix here, but you can easily swap in whatever you have on hand or what’s in season.
If you’re looking for the best fruit salad for your next potluck, this is the “base” I always use. Make it with me and I think you’ll do the same!

“When I’m craving something sweet, this fruit salad does the trick. This fruit combination is like eating natural candy, with vitamins and fiber. Lemon and honey are a must have for this.”

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best fruit salad ingredients for my recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Fresh Fruit – I used a combination of strawberries, blueberries, green grapes, mandarin oranges, diced pineapple, and kiwi for a mix of sweet, juicy, and slightly tart flavors. You can easily swap in other fruit! Try raspberries, blackberries, apples, peaches, cantaloupe, watermelon, pears, honeydew, plums, nectarines, apricots, pomegranate seeds, halved cherries, or even sliced bananas (although I prefer those only if eaten fresh).
- Fresh Mint – Totally optional, but I love how it adds a bright, fresh pop that makes the whole salad taste even better. Sometimes I swap in a little fresh basil instead.
- Lemon – Since you’ll need both lemon juice and zest, grab fresh lemons rather than bottled juice. You can also swap in lime (juice and zest) if you’re a home-lime fan.
- Honey – Although any kind works, I usually use my Wholesome Yum Zero Sugar Honey to avoid added sugar (the fruit already has plenty!). You can also swap in my sugar-free maple syrup or add a little vanilla extract for extra flavor.

How To Make A Fruit Salad
I have step-by-step photos here to help you visualize the recipe. For full instructions with amounts and temperatures, see the recipe card.
- Prep the fruit. Peel the ones that need peeling, then cut everything into similar sized pieces. Combine the fruit in a large bowl, along with chopped fresh mint if you’re adding it.
- Make the fruit salad dressing. In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, lemon zest, and honey.
- Bring it all together. Pour the dressing over the fruit salad and gently toss to coat. Enjoy!

My Recipe Tips
- Use ripe, but firm fruit. I look for produce that’s sweet and juicy, but not too soft. Overripe fruit can get mushy once it’s mixed with the fruit salad dressing.
- Keep the fruit bite-sized, so it mixes evenly and is easy to eat. I quarter the strawberries, halve the grapes, dice the pineapple and kiwi, and leave the blueberries and mandarin segments as is. Apply the same idea for any fruit you’re using.
- You can use any kind of fruit, but just aim for about 8 cups total. I’ve made this fruit salad every which way, but I always use this amount because it’s the perfect dressing-to-fruit ratio.
- Dressing variation: Try my poppy seed dressing! Since it’s more rich and creamy than this light honey lemon dressing, I prefer to drizzle it over this fresh fruit salad rather than tossing.

- Tips: Check out my recipe tips above to help you pick the best fruit, get the perfect texture, and a dressing variation I use sometimes.
- Storage & meal prep: You can keep this fruit salad in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, and it’s best within 1-2 days. I often prep it the day before to save time. The fruit releases extra juices, which is actually delicious, but it also gets too be too much after the first couple days. I don’t like freezing this recipe.
- Note on nutrition info: I used my sugar-free honey for these numbers (sugar content is higher using regular honey), and does not include optional mint.

0A very delicious fruit combination! This will become a favorite in my family,I’m sure. Next time, I may try to substitute the lemon zest with orange zest, just to compare.

0Loved that lemony honey dressing — and customized the fruit a bit with what was on sale in produce dept. This girl’s gotta save a buck lately, ugh.

0This recipe is amazing. I’ve made it twice now. The first time, I got a little carried away with the honey, and it was much too sweet for my taste. The second time, I reduced the amount of honey by half and it was perfect!
