Get It NowMy Keto Pizza Sauce Is So Good, You’ll Want Pizza Every Night

Whenever I’m making pizza night low carb, this keto pizza sauce is the one I use every time. I started making it because so many store-bought sauces sneak in sugar, but honestly, now I prefer the flavor of this homemade version even more. It’s bold, rich, just the right amount of sweet and savory… and the best part? This low carb pizza sauce works with any keto pizza crust you’re using. Here’s why I think you’ll love it too:
- Tastes like the real thing – It’s got that classic, bold tomato flavor and a smooth, rich texture, just like your favorite pizzeria sauce but without the added sugar.
- Ridiculously easy – No simmering, no fuss. It’s ready in just 2 minutes with basic ingredients you probably already have, and it still tastes like it took way longer.
- Truly keto-friendly – A lot of so-called keto-friendly pizza sauces still sneak in sugar or preservatives, but this one keeps it clean without losing flavor. With less than 4g net carbs per serving, and after testing a few versions, I finally landed on one that hits all the right notes.
Once you try it, you might not go back to the store-bought stuff. Make it with me!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my easy keto pizza sauce recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Olive Oil – I like using a good extra-virgin olive oil here because it adds the best flavor, but if all you’ve got is avocado oil, that works too.
- Tomato Paste – This gives the low carb pizza sauce that bold, concentrated tomato flavor. You can use tomato sauce in a pinch, but the flavor will be milder and the sauce a bit thinner — just reduce the added water to compensate.
- Dried Herbs – I use oregano, basil, and marjoram for that classic pizza flavor. If you don’t have all three, a teaspoon of Italian seasoning will do the trick.
- Dried Spices – Garlic powder, onion powder, and fennel seed give the sauce that familiar, pizzeria-style taste. Want some heat? A pinch of red pepper flakes is great here.
- Balsamic Vinegar – Adds a little sweetness and depth. You can leave it out, or if you like a sweeter sauce, stir in a bit of Powdered Besti — it blends in easily and won’t make the sauce gritty.
- Water – Just to thin it out to your desired consistency.
- Sea Salt & Black Pepper

How To Make Keto Pizza Sauce
I have step-by-step photos here to help you visualize the recipe. For full instructions with amounts and temperatures, see the recipe card.
- Stir it up. Just add everything to a bowl and stir until smooth. If it’s too thick for your liking, add a little extra water to thin it out.
- Use it right away. This keto pizza sauce is ready to go on whatever crust you’re using (I’ve got ideas below). No cooking needed, which is why I make it all the time!

My Recipe Tips
- For extra smooth sauce, blend everything in a blender instead of stirring. It only takes a few seconds and makes the texture super silky.
- Crush the fennel seed. I like to use the back of a spoon or a mortar and pestle because it helps release more flavor into the sauce.
- Adjust the thickness. If your sauce feels too thick, just stir in a little more water until it’s the consistency you like.
- If you have a few minutes, let the sauce rest before using. The flavors come together even more as it sits.

0I like how simple this recipe is. Added a little extra water to thin it out. Thought it needed more oregano and garlic but was so easy to adjust to our personal taste. Used on that delicious cheese crust pizza recipe. Never knew that pizza sauce should be thicker and didn’t need to be cooked! Thank you Maya, you are simplifying my life!

0Thank you, Jennifer! Yes, it’s easy to customize this to your taste and desired thickness.

0This was the simplest recipe I could find. It was delicious! I love that tomato paste and balsamic vinegar were used. Used it on chicken crust pizza cooked in a cast iron skillet. I have enough to make again tonight. I used Italian seasoning instead since I didn’t have all the seasonings. This will be my go-to recipe. I plan to triple the recipe and freeze.

0I’m so glad you liked it, Lenae! Yes, I love how simple it is, too, and it’s perfect for chicken crust pizza. Happy to hear it’s your go-to now!
Carol
0I really wish that you would include the actual amount this makes, not just the number of servings. Servings gets you how much to consume, but the actual amount gives us the actual amount to allow for the size of container. This is important.
Maya | Wholesome Yum
3Hi Carol, I do have that information in the recipe notes. It makes about 3/4 cup.
Keith
0I’ve made this sauce more times than I can count, but I’ve never taken the time to thank you. Perfection!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
0Awww, I’m so glad to hear that, Keith! Thank you!
Lorraine Horton
0I think this is great. I add a tsp of powdered sweetener and a half to three quarters of a cup of water. I like it a little on the thin side.
Maya | Wholesome Yum
0I’m happy you like it, Lorraine! Yes, as you’ve found it’s totally fine to add sweetener or adjust the amount of water to your liking.
Karen Arnold
0It doesn’t say anywhere in the recipe for this sauce if you cook it first. Please advise.
Wholesome Yum D
0Hi Karen, This recipe does not need cooked.
Michele
0Phenomenal! We love it just the way the recipe is & slather it on portabellas, eggplant & low carb crusts. Full of flavor, tastes way better than store bought and is cheaper. Love that we can whip it up anytime with ingredients already in our pantry. Thanks so much!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
0Thank you so much, Michele! Enjoy!
Bob

Robin
0Quick, easy and super yummy!

0I will try this. But looking at regular pizza sauces (Publix, Great Value, Contadina) in the grocery store, the net carbs are about 4 or 5 for a 1/4 cup (4 tablespoon) serving–twice the amount of this low carb pizza sauce recipe (as stated).

0I made this, with a slight variation because of a shortage in my pantry. I used a small can of tomato sauce, and a little squeeze tube of Paste, and proceeded without adding water. It worked fine. Good stuff!!
Jan
0I took the time to combine all of the seasonings together making a big batch and put in a storage bowl so that I can just sprinkle/add to the tomato sauce as needed. I love these seasonings combined, tastes so much like pizza sauce!
Melissa
0How critical is the fennel seed?
Wholesome Yum D
0Hi Melissa, You can omit the fennel seed.
Anna M.
0I made this and it turned out good. I used a 6 oz can of tomato paste because that’s what I had. I don’t like fennel so I left that out. I used parsley in place of the marjoram since I didn’t have marjoram. I did use a little bit, 1/2 tsp, of sweetener and extra garlic powder. Oh, also needed more water because I cooked it on low for about an hour.
Margaret Honeysette
