GET IT NOWMy Air Fryer Lamb Chops Turned Out Perfectly Juicy In Minutes

These air fryer lamb chops are one of the fastest, easiest “a-little-fancy” meals I’ve made. I usually opt for oven baked lamb chops when I want to make them, but after I discovered how surprisingly well air fryer filet mignon turned out, I decided to give lamb chops in the air fryer a try, too… and I’m so happy I did! Here’s why:
- Tender, juicy texture – This is where air frying shines most! For super tender meat, cooking lamb chops in the air fryer is more reliably foolproof than any other method. It’s much harder to dry them out this way!
- Fast and easy – Air fried lamb chops are more hands-off than my oven version, and ready in less than 15 minutes… including the prep time. It’s one of my fastest dinner recipes, which isn’t what you’d expect from such a special meal.
- Simple ingredients – Grab your lamb and you probably have everything else in your pantry. I kept these lightly seasoned to let the lamb flavor shine, but also included a marinade option to make them even more juicy.
If you’re looking for an easier way to cook lamb chops, or just a new idea for special occasions or entertaining, these air fryer lamb chops are perfect. Make them with me!

“Made the recipe, fast and easy wow! We loved it. So tasty, juicy and tender. Next time I will use the marinade. Great Idea to have the 2 choices.”

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my air fryer lamb chops recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Lamb Chops – I tested this air fryer lamb chops recipe using rib chops (the kind that are from a rack of lamb, separated into individual bones), but lamb loin chops or lamb shoulder chops would also work. The cook time may take a couple of minutes longer if you use those. (You can learn more about the difference in my baked lamb chops post.)
- Olive Oil – Or any neutral, heat-safe oil. Avocado oil is my other favorite.
- Seasonings – Including dried rosemary, dried thyme, salt (I prefer sea salt, but kosher salt is fine), and black pepper. For a richer flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon each of cumin and paprika. You can also use fresh herbs, but they’re less intense, so I recommend increasing the amount to 1 tablespoon of each. Or try my marinade variation below.

How To Cook Lamb Chops In The Air Fryer
I have step-by-step photos here to help you visualize the recipe. For full instructions with amounts and temperatures, see the recipe card.
- Preheat your air fryer. I use and love this one. Preheating is not required, but I always do it because it helps get a little crust on the meat.
- Season the lamb chops. Drizzle them with oil in a large bowl, and season with rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Coat the meat evenly in the mixture.
- Air fry away. Place the lamb chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure to leave room between the pieces, so they aren’t crowded. (Cook in batches if necessary.) Air fry, flipping halfway through — see below for my recommended cook times and the best way to ensure they’re cooked perfectly for you!
- Don’t forget to rest. Transfer the air fried lamb chops to a plate and let them sit for 5 minutes before serving, which helps them stay juicy.

Marinade Variation
I kept this air fryer lamb chop recipe super simple, because at my house the air fryer is for quick I-forgot-about-dinner meals. But if you manage to plan ahead, these taste even better marinated! Here’s the marinade I tested for this recipe and absolutely love:
- Olive oil – One tablespoon is enough for coating the chops, but if you want a marinade, use 1/4 cup instead, and add the other ingredients below.
- Lemon juice – A tablespoon of acid, such as lemon juice (or vinegar), can help tenderize the meat. If you add this, marinate the lamb chops for at least an hour, up to 24 hours, to let the acid do its thing.
- Garlic – Add 2 cloves of minced garlic, or 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Herbs – I used rosemary and thyme, but dried basil or dried oregano would also make nice additions. You could also just use my Italian seasoning mix for simplicity and variety.
How Long To Air Fry Lamb Chops?
In my experience, air fryer lamb chops take about 7-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, but the time can vary depending on the size of your chops. The best way to know for sure is to use a meat thermometer. Although you can use an instant-read thermometer like this, my preferred method is a probe thermometer — I insert it after flipping and it beeps when they reach the right internal temperature.
Air fry lamb chops to 120 degrees F for rare, 130 degrees F for medium rare, or 140 degrees F for medium. The temperature will continue to rise about 5 more degrees as the meat rests after cooking.
TIP: I don’t recommend cooking lamb chops beyond medium doneness.
Most people, me included, agree that they taste gamey when cooked for longer.

Maya’s Recipe Notes
Serving size: 1 lamb chop
- Timing: Check out my timing tips above to help you air fry lamb chops perfectly, without a tough texture or gamey flavor.
- Marinade variation: For even more tender results, use my marinade variation above.
- Storage: Keep leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- Reheat: Warm up the lamb chops in the air fryer again, except for reheating I recommend a lower temp of 350 degrees F. It’s the best way to avoid overcooking or burning them.
- Freeze: They won’t be the same as fresh, but you can freeze air fried lamb chops for up to 3 months. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap, so they don’t get freezer burn. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.

Air Fryer Lamb Chops

Serving Ideas
Lamb is commonly served with potatoes, but I prefer to serve mine with a veggie-centric healthy side dish, such as:
- Air Fryer Vegetables – Make your entire meal in one appliance by pairing the lamb with my air fryer brussels sprouts or air fryer carrots. You can also just make mixed air fryer vegetables for variety.
- Other Veggies – If you’d rather cook your side in parallel while you have the lamb chops in the air fryer, make my roasted cauliflower, broccolini, or asparagus in the oven, or cook some sauteed vegetables (my go-to for using up whatever I have in the fridge).
- Salads – Balance the hearty air fryer lamb chops with my lighter Caprese salad, Mediterranean chopped salad, or broccoli slaw.
- Sauce – These chops are juicy and flavorful enough to not need a sauce, but I sometimes dip them in tzatziki, tahini, or chimichurri sauce.

0this looks great! Is each lamb chop 12 oz? Mine are quite a bit smaller, roughly 1/2 inch thick…how to adjust the timing?
Wholesome Yum D
0Hi Marci, You will have to check the temperature on your lamb chops… 120 degrees F for rare, 130 degrees F for medium rare, and 140 degrees F for medium.

0Do i cut the chops apart? They have 3 bones per chop and I’m doing this for the first time. The pics look like single bones. Just don’t want to waste the meat. Thank you.
Wholesome Yum D
0Hi Debi, If all the chops are together, you will need to slice the roast into individual chops.
