GET IT NOWThis Greek Yogurt Ranch Is The Lighter, High Protein Version Of My Favorite Dressing

This Greek yogurt ranch started as a lighter spin on the classic ranch dressing that I, and so many of you, already make on repeat. I still love the original, but I wanted something just as versatile with more protein and a lighter feel. Here’s why my new Greek yogurt ranch dressing and dip checks all the boxes:
- Higher protein, same creamy ranch feel – This version has more protein than traditional ranch, thanks to the Greek yogurt and an extra secret ingredient I add. (The grams of protein per serving may not seem like much, but I often increase the number of servings when I use it, since it’s mostly protein and so light.)
- Lighter, but still full of flavor – You still get that tangy, herby, garlicky flavor and rich, creamy texture we all love, but it’s only 18 calories per serving!
- Quick and easy – You can whip up this yogurt ranch in about 5 minutes, all with simple herbs, spices, and fridge staples you likely already have on hand.
- Adjustable consistency – You can make it thicker or thinner to your liking. Can’t do that with store-bought!
- Use it on everything – Salads, sandwiches, cottage cheese wraps, veggies, roasted potatoes, chicken… anywhere I’d use my regular ranch, this one works just as well.
If you love ranch but like the idea of a lighter, high protein upgrade, say hello to this Greek yogurt ranch dressing. Make it with me!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my Greek yogurt ranch dressing recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Greek Yogurt & Lemon Juice – This combo gives the dressing a creamy, tangy base without needing buttermilk. I usually go with plain Greek yogurt for the best texture, and the lemon juice adds just the right fresh, bright flavor. You can swap in sour cream, but it won’t be as high in protein.
- Cottage Cheese – This is my secret little upgrade for extra protein without mayo. Blending makes it completely smooth, so it just makes the dressing thicker and creamier.
- Dried Herbs & Spices – For that classic ranch flavor, I use dried parsley, dried dill, dried chives, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Yes, the same combination you’ll find in my ranch seasoning mix.
- Milk – This helps thin out the yogurt ranch dressing to the perfect consistency. I usually use whole milk, but any kind you’ve got works fine. I’ve even used almond milk when I was out of regular.

My Recipe Tips
- Make sure the cottage cheese blends completely smooth. If it’s not blended enough, the dressing can be a little grainy instead of creamy. I use a high-powered blender for this, but this small food processor works great, too.
- The amount of milk here is ideal for a salad dressing you can pour or drizzle. If you want a thicker Greek yogurt ranch dip, reduce the amount of milk to 2 tablespoons.
- If I have time, I let it chill for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator. The flavors mingle together, so it tastes even better.
- This Greek yogurt ranch recipe gets thicker in the fridge. If it’s too thick later, you can always thin it out with a little more milk.

Maya’s Recipe Notes
Serving size: 2 tablespoons
- Tips: Check out my recipe tips above to help you get the best texture and flavor.
- Storage: Store your homemade Greek yogurt ranch dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1-2 weeks. I usually keep mine in a mason jar so I can give it a quick stir and spoon it out, but a plastic squeeze bottle works great for drizzling over… everything.
- Ways to use it: I have so many ways to use this below!
- Recipe yield: This entire recipe makes about 2 cups.
- Note on protein: I call this high protein because that’s the primary macro in it, but it’s really quite light overall. Although I kept the serving size at 2 tablespoons because that’s standard for dressings, I often have more when drizzling or using it as a dip. You can easily enjoy 1/2 cup and then it’s 4X the protein shown here!

Ways To Use Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing & Dip
I use this Greek yogurt ranch for so much more than just salads. Here are some of my favorite ways:
- Fresh Veggies – I love using this yogurt ranch as a dip for carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, broccoli, or really any veggies you’d usually pair with ranch.
- Your favorite salads – Try it on my loaded BLT salad, chef salad, or Cobb salad. Honestly, it works on just about any of my healthy salad recipes, so feel free to experiment.
- Buffalo Anything – Greek yogurt ranch dressing is perfect to mellow out buffalo wings, but that’s just the start. It’s just as good drizzled over my buffalo chicken breast, cauliflower wings, buffalo chicken meatballs, or even buffalo chicken soup.
- Chicken – This dip is great on my ranch chicken recipe or for dipping air fryer chicken tenders.
- Casseroles – My most popular is chicken bacon ranch casserole!
- Pizza – I like drizzling it over chicken crust pizza, especially when I make a BBQ chicken version.
