This was actually an older post, but it was time for an update. You see, this was originally posted as bacon crusted chicken, but apparently that’s a pretty new concept and no one knows what that is. So, in an effort to help people find this recipe, it needs another name. How about “chicken with bacon crust”? Or maybe simply “bacon chicken”?
Chicken and Bacon = The Best Combination
Whatever you call it, you can’t go wrong when you combine chicken and bacon. Now that I mention it, you can’t go wrong with bacon, period.
If you need other ideas for bacon, have you tried bacon wrapped asparagus yet? It’s one of my favorite ways to use it. Bacon cheeseburger soup is another one I love. This post was originally from spring 2016, and I still remember warming up with a big bowl of cheeseburger soup that week!
As much as I adore those, I’m pretty sure that bacon chicken beats both of them. There’s something so satisfying when you put chicken and bacon together. And the best part is, the bacon crust locks in aaaaall the moisture in the chicken.
The Idea for Baked Bacon Chicken
The idea for bacon chicken came to me out of nowhere one day when I was thinking about what new things to try with bacon bits. Because there are always good things that can be done with bacon bits! Amazingly, I hadn’t seen anything like this before.
I’ve heard of chicken wrapped in bacon before, and later came up with a cheesy bacon wrapped chicken tenders recipe based on that. But, chicken with a bacon crust was something I’d never seen anywhere. I was so excited to try it!
At first I thought about including some kind of low carb breadcrumbs with the bacon, but ultimately decided against it. I wanted this recipe to be as simple as possible. And, I liked the idea of chicken with bacon crust that anyone would want to make, whether they care about low carb or not. So, even though this is a naturally keto and gluten free chicken recipe, pretty much any bacon lover will want to make it.
How To Make Chicken with Bacon Crust
It’s insanely easy to make bacon crusted chicken. You only need five ingredients. Yes, seriously!
Chances are, you might have the ingredients you need at home right now. That’s one of the reasons that chicken with bacon crust is one of my go-to low carb dinner recipes. I can make it anytime on a whim.
To prepare the bacon chicken, all you have to do is dip your chicken breast in a thin layer of mayo, coat in a mixture of bacon bits, garlic powder, and salt, and bake to perfection in the oven. It takes just ten minutes of prep, and then around fifteen minutes in the oven. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
The thin layer of mayonnaise underneath the crust does a great job at keeping the moisture locked into the chicken breast during baking. The smoky bacon crust is truly amazing, with a garlic aroma shining through.
When you want a satisfying meal that you can throw together fast, this is the one. It looks beautiful, in case you have guests to impress, and no one will guess how easy it was. Try it, and you’ll see why it’s one of my favorite ways to use chicken and bacon together!

Bacon Chicken Recipe with Bacon Crust - Easy (5 Ingredients)

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (232 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with foil and grease lightly.
- In a blender or food processor, pulse the bacon bits, garlic, and sea salt, until pieces are very small. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl.
- Place the mayonnaise in a medium bowl. Dip each chicken breast into the mayo (coating with a thin layer only), then roll in the bacon mixture to coat all sides. Place on the baking sheet. Repeat with all the chicken.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the bacon is crispy.
- Nutrition info is based on large (6 ounce) chicken breasts. You can easily halve the serving size.
- You can soak the chicken breast in salt water for 10 minutes beforehand to make them even more juicy.
Serving size: 1 large chicken breast (6 oz)
