GET IT NOWHow I Build A Halloween Charcuterie Board In 15 Minutes

Charcuterie boards are my go-to whenever I’m entertaining. They’re always a crowd-pleaser. But you know what makes them even more fun? A theme! For October, nothing beats a spooky Halloween charcuterie board! Here’s why:
- Fun presentation – It’s super simple, just a matter of how you arrange the cheeses, meats, and extras. A few cookie cutters and festive touches are all it takes to turn an everyday board into something spooky and fun.
- Lots of options for guests – Sweet, savory, salty, and crunchy all in one. The little ghost and pumpkin cheese cutouts make it extra cute, and like my Thanksgiving or Christmas charcuterie board, it’s a festive but healthy appetizer that’s easy to customize with your favorites.
- Quick to assemble – Even with the slicing and arranging, I can have this Halloween charcuterie board party-ready in about 15 minutes. Plus, you can prep it a day or two ahead if you like.
- Perfect with other Halloween recipes – The spider theme ties right in with my Halloween deviled eggs, and if you want to go all out, add Jack-O’-Lantern stuffed peppers or a cozy bowl of Panera autumn squash soup.
Whether you’re hosting a party or just want something festive for Halloween night with your family, this spooky charcuterie board is guaranteed to disappear fast. Make it with me!

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here I explain the best ingredients for my Halloween charcuterie board recipe, what each one does, and substitution options. For measurements, see the recipe card.
- Cheeses – I like to mix a soft cheese, something semi-hard, and one that’s a little sharper. This time I used brie, sharp cheddar, and white cheddar. If brie isn’t your thing, a soft goat cheese works, or you could roll a cheese ball. For cutouts, Gruyere, Swiss, Manchego, gouda, or mozzarella all hold their shape nicely.
- Olives – I used pimento-stuffed olives for a spooky eyeball effect, but black or plain green olives look great, too.
- Pickles – Mini dill pickles (cornichons) are my go-to, but sliced pickles or even pickled cauliflower or pickled asparagus add variety and color.
- Meats – I used salami and prosciutto, but you can swap in cured chorizo, coppa, or pepperoni if that’s what you have.
- Crackers – These gluten-free sweet potato crackers (pictured below) are my family’s favorite, but feel free to use any kind you love. Flax seed crackers, almond flour crackers, crunchy cheese crackers, or cheese crisps all work, too.
- Fruit – I leaned into darker tones (blackberries and blueberries) because they felt more fitting for a Halloween charcuterie board. Grapes are good, too. For more fall flavor, whip up my quick cinnamon apple chips.
- Nuts – I scattered in a mix of almonds, walnuts, pecans, and pistachios. Feel free to use any nuts you love.

Spooky Charcuterie Board Tips
- Cut the cheese into spooky shapes. I used Halloween cookie cutters to make ghosts and pumpkins from harder cheeses, and it instantly made the board festive.
- Anchor with bowls. Small ramekins (I used these) filled with pickles or olives give structure and make arranging everything else so much easier.
- Fold or roll your meats. Salami, prosciutto, or pepperoni look fuller when you fold or roll them, and it gives the board more texture.
- Fill the empty spaces. I use crackers after the bowls, meats, and cheeses, then add nuts, berries, or dried fruit last. They’re smaller and good for filling in gaps, plus they make the Halloween charcuterie board feel full.
- Add labels if you want. These little toothpick tags for the cheeses or meats look cute and help people know what they are eating.
- Have fun with spooky garnishes. Candy eyeballs, plastic spiders, or tiny skeleton hands instantly turn a simple board into a Halloween showpiece.
- Don’t stress about perfection. The fun of a Halloween snack board is in the mix. As long as it looks spooky and snackable, everyone will love it.
Halloween Charcuterie Board

Instructions
Tap on the times in the instructions to start a kitchen timer.
-
Using small Halloween-themed cookie cutters, cut the cheese into Halloween themed shapes, such as ghosts and pumpkins.
-
Place the cheeses in a few different areas on a cutting board. Brie works well kept in a wheel and sliced into wedges. Hard, semi-hard, and semi-soft cheeses, like cheddar, can be sliced and then fanned out.
-
Place the pickles and olives in small bowls or ramekins, and place on the board.
-
Add the charcuterie meats to the board. Place in different areas and fold the individual slices to create more space.
-
Place the crackers throughout the board to fill in some of the larger gaps.
-
Add the berries and nuts to the board to fill in any remaining empty spaces.

More Halloween Charcuterie Board Ideas
If you want to take your board up a notch, here are some fun Halloween charcuterie board ideas you can play around with:
- Pumpkin Shape – Use a round pumpkin board and start by placing blueberries or blackberries as the eyes and mouth of a jack-o’-lantern. Fill the rest of the board with mostly orange items like cheddar, gouda, nuts, and crackers, then finish with a celery stick or fresh herbs for the stem.
- Skeleton Shape – Carve the head of a skeleton from a wheel of brie, then fan out cheese and meat slices horizontally below it to resemble ribs. Arrange the rest of your snacks around the skeleton for a creepy centerpiece. A coffin-shaped board makes an even spookier backdrop for this design.
- Vegetarian – Skip the meats and load up on extra cheeses. A mix of soft, hard, and semi-soft options keeps it interesting and still feels festive.
- Add A Sweet Touch – Add marshmallows (regular or sugar-free), Halloween candy, or cookies to the mix. My kids especially love sugar-free peanut butter cups, and a bowl of chocolate hummus with apple slices for dipping is a great healthy option.
- Decorations – I used a spider web mat and a few plastic spiders to make this feel like a spooky charcuterie board. You can take it further with skeleton heads, witchy cauldron bowls, or even serve everything on a spider web board for a dramatic touch.
